International history

Launched in 1992 in the UK by Enzo Balestrazzi, Baumatic is a family-owned and operated appliance manufacturer. During the first decade the company grew quickly, exporting throughout Europe, with distribution extending to New Zealand in 2002. Today, Baumatic operates in more than 50 countries, with appliances sold in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East. The company continues to gain international recognition with residential consumers and developers across the globe.

Baumatic engages the most gifted product designers, and has created an enviable collection of appliances that embrace cutting-edge technology. This ensures every appliance works at its best, making light work of cooking and cleaning, and maximising leisure time.

The family values that underscored the business 20 years ago remain a priority today.

Applico Involvement

The Applico connection

Leading New Zealand appliance importer and distributor Applico Ltd has a long-standing relationship with Baumatic and its founder Enzo Balestrazzi – both companies are family-run businesses built on family values.

Applico director Mark Jones first met Enzo at the Domotechnica appliance fair in Koln, Germany in the early ’90s. Applico consequently became the first distribution company Enzo dealt with directly, and was very involved in helping to develop the full range of Baumatic products. The Baumatic business expanded to include a full range of cooking and extraction appliances, as well as some freestanding models and laundry appliances.

Baumatic’s success has been Applico’s success, as New Zealand consumers recognise these appliances are highly competitive and extremely good value for money. And the business relationship between the two companies, which quickly become a solid friendship, remains as strong as ever.
